I am in the reconsideration stage of my claim for social security this time My doctor wrote out a statement for me to submit stating I am unable to participate or work at all and, she also added comments on why My condition is disabling
I know social security only approve about 20% in the reconsideration stage could I be one of those this time?
Social security?
The is absolutely no rhyme or reason with them, so don't get your hopes up for approval even on the second time. My advice is to hire an advocate or a lawyer who specializes in disability.
Reply:Yes, you could be. Many times you may have to stay on this. They may think if you really not need it you will give up. But, if you continue to pursue this, in time, you may get approved.
When my dad (He gone now), started having heart attacks, he did try to keep working. But, in time the Doctor said he needed to quit, after another heart attack on the job. But, it took a Lawyer, before he ever got approved and the Lawyer got 1/2 of his back pay.
We always figured he would have been better never trying to go back to work. Once he did go back, we figured they thought he could keep working until he died on the job.
Reply:In today's SS benefit hearings that are held, may cases are rejected because people go to work being paraplegics and they work with special equipment. It you are not that ill, the chances are very slim your case will not be approved.
Reply:This process is very long and frustrating. But is also bogged down with people trying to get SSD with carpal tunnel, etc.
It really doesn't help to get a note from your doctor for they determine what is disabling, etc.
Once you get rejected at the 2nd time, you will be given an administrative judge hearing.
I highly recommend hiring a lawyer that handles SS cases.
I got mine in about 9 months but I had intubated two times in one month and many other serious and life threatening problems.
My son has applied since 2004 and rejected. Got a letter saying he was going to be set for an administrative hearing with no date or time whatsoever. I called SS to see where his file is and it sits in hearings that is backed up 12 to 20 months. He is about to lose everything he owns awaiting this.
Good luck!!

Social anxiety. question?
well ive had social anxiety my whole life. i can remmeber it as far back as year 4. i just panic in social situations. i avoid going out with friends coz of being so scared of it. its affecting my job. and i think its getting worse. ive looked up heaps of stuff on the internet. and i always get like 100% on online tests.
im thinking of going on medication/ going to doctors. for help.
but i just want to know how does the medication help you?! like what does it do?
Social anxiety. question?
I have social anxiety, generalized anxiety disorder, and obsessive compulsive disorder causing Trichotillomania, and it's all caused a mild depression. I take antidepressants/anxiety medication, that keep the chemical balance in my brain at a constant level and help lessen the attacks by doing so, and take Xanax when I feel a panic attack coming on. It calms my mind and body, and helps lesson the symptoms, which gets me through the attacks. I also go to therapy to help the OCD and Trichotillomania. Go to the doctor, they'll diagnose you and give you what they think will be best for you. Hope things get better, I know things really sucked before I got diagnosed for sure, I couldn't go out of my house without having a panic attack and wanting to cry.
Reply:they have drugs that can be used for temporary purposes on as needed basis, for instance,at the onset of symptoms, they work to calm your body and lessen the symptoms at the time of the actual social anxiety attack..these meds include:ativan, valium, xanax, etc(the problem with these meds,is that if not taken as directed they can become habit forming)...then you can also be put on antidepressents that also work with anxiety, they take a few weeks to kick in and just make sure the chemical levels in your brain stay at a steady rate and those medicines help to lessen the occurance of the attacks..but once you visit your doctor or psychologist they will better be able to decide which meds will work better for you, depending on the severity of your anxiety and so forth. i myself suffer from anxiety and panic disorder and i used ativan which did wonders for me,even when i only took half a pill..good luck and hope things get better for you..take care and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Reply:Medication will help wonders.
I had/have social anxiety and i take xanax and now I'm fine going to the mall and stuff...I don't SEEK to go places but I don't freak as bad.
good luck!

Social Studies! Help!!?
We are supposed to make a recipe for social but you have to make it up using social studies terms. The thing is that you have to make them work with each other like for example: Before baking, make sure the bowl of people bonded by World Wars has been washed thoroughly with consumerism.
Please help.
These are some ingredients you can use:
Communication Technologies
Trade
Media
Transportation
UN
EU
WTO
GATT
Transnational Corporations (I need to have this one in it)
Globalization
Poverty
Free Trade
Capitalism
Economist
Economy
Corporate Responsibility
Prosperity
War
Electronic Commerce
Consumerism
Thank You!!!

What does cooking and socials have to do with each other?

Reply:Boil COMMUNICATION TECHNOGOLOGIES for 10 minutes make sure you pack TRADE into the COMMUNICATION TECHNOGOLOGIES. Then stir in the EU and before you consult with the UN make sure you clean out the WAR in it. Add some Economy inside your dish. Now time to Globalize your dish by adding some consumerism and prosperity. Make sure your dish is a free trade and has lots of GATT and WTO. Social security card question?
i filled out an application to get a new social security card so i can get my driver's license, and we're going to take it to the social security office on Wednesday. i was wondering if anyone knows how long it will take for me to get the card. one person told me ill have to wait like 6 weeks, then someone else told me that i can get it right there after i turn in the application. i live in Illinois....does anyone know for sure?
Social security card question?
They can give you a temporary paper documenting it for use while waiting for the real card.
Reply:They will give you a reciept that you should be able to use untill you receive your card.
Reply:If you have a number already and are getting a replacement card, then they give you a piece of paper saying this is your number - as for employment and the card comes in the mail in 2 weeks as I recall. If you are applying for a new number, then I am not sure how they handle it.
Reply:4 to 6 weeks is average. Social Security field offices do not print the cards, they're printed at our central office in Baltimore, MD. If you need a printout, you can obtain a receipt to show that you have applied for a new card.

Reply:Contact the Social Security Administration by telephone. They will give you good guidelines.
Reply:it should be 4 to 6 weeks.
Reply:I got mine in about a week just this month. The social security office will give you a print out to use at the BMV(or DMV).
Reply:i don't know about illinois... but here in nevada when i got a new one after marriage.... it took 2weeks..... (through the mail) and when i got divorced it took 3. good luck!
Reply:All SS cards are sent out from a single location. So it will take a couple of weeks at least. They will give you a receipt that shows you have applied for the card and some places will except the reciept in some case, but you should check first.
Reply:It used to be 6 weeks, however I do not think it ever really took that long...that was on the outside.
I was not, however given a replacement on site last year. It took about 2 weeks to get it in the mail.

I need help with a Christian Social Action essay. Here's what I have so far. How's it sound? What does it need
In my opinion, the biggest social problem in the world today is pollution. Not pollution of land, water or air. Those are economical and environmental problems, and though they are indirectly the cause of social problems and the results of other social problems, they are not specifically social problems in and of themselves. I mean pollution in the minds and the hearts of the teenage generation. It is a social problem that is more widespread than any other. It exists anywhere and everywhere that there is a living creature, though it affects primarily the teenage generation. My generation. We are the most susceptible to this sort of pollution, and what we receive now will likely stay with us the rest of our lives.

you forgot to say that your parents told you to say this stuff and that you didn't think of it on your own accord and that you forced to hear this crap your whole life.
Reply:My parents did NOT tell me to say this, I DID think of it on my own, I am NOT forced to hear this, and crap or not, I'd appreciate you not assuming everyone is like you. Report It
Reply:That's a great start. The next part should be something like this:
"It is the moral duty and responsibility for all rational people to take a stand against the insidious mind-killing magical thinking that is a part of belief in the Abrahamic god of desert monotheism (Judaism. Christianity, Islam). These ridiculous religious beliefs seek to supplant rationality and hard-won knowledge with the myths, superstitions, fairy tales and fantastical delusions of a bunch of ignorant peripatetic Bronze Age goat herders. As a result of this campaign against sanity, the USA is presently on a par with developing third-world nations with regard to magical, supernatural beliefs (devils, demons, spirits, talking snakes and donkeys, multiplying loaves and fishes, eating god in the form of a cracker, etc.), instead of being consistent with other modern industrial powers, where we belong. This is a national disgrace."
Good luck with your essay.
Reply:I like it. That's very original to use the analogy of physical pollution to parallel the spiritual pollution that you perceive around you. One suggestion I would make, try to use examples that you know about personally. When I was writing college papers, we were never encouraged to personalize them. Just like the evening news, everything was supposed to be from that ever-elusive [non-existent] neutral perspective. I now believe that makes for very irrelevant, boring writing. Get a piece o f paper and just start writing down your personal experience of the things (pollutants) you were talking about..the emotion of.....greed, lust, pride...etc. Also, JESUS FREAK, don't forget that the hero of the story wins in the end, so leave the reader with hope for the future.
Also you can use hyperbole, but use it rarely---treat it like that red hot fire sauce you can get in Chinese restaurants...yum. Humor is good too; as long as you don't get flippant, you won't undermine the seriousness of your thesis. And finally, virtually everyone says to set your paper aside for a day or two when you are done, just to let the dust settle in your mind. That also gives you time to prayerfully consider if any attitude is out of place. Attitudes are important; they always show in your writing.
Hoping the best for you...
Reply:Good start, but I'd suggest a more theologically-sound approach. To wit:
Our separation from God is not because of "sins", but of "sinfulness." Check Romans. We are not sinners because we sin, we sin because we're sinners. It's this "original sin" that we inherited from Adam that separates us from God. Therefore, a "kinder, gentler" generation will not bring a single member one inch closer to God. Only salvation can do that.
Reply:Sounds good so far.
Reply:I think its good.
Reply:Start a two- week bible camp 4 little kids (4-11) nd have the older kids help out (12-18) for community service hours. W do it where i live nd its a hit.

A Visit To The Social Security Office?
A retired gentleman went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security.
The woman behind the counter asked him for his driver's license to verify his age.
He looked in his pockets and realized he had left his wallet at home.
He told the woman that he was very sorry but he seemed to have left his wallet at home. "I will have to go home and come back later."
The woman says, "Unbutton your shirt."
So he opens his shirt revealing lots of curly silver hair.
She says, "That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me," and she processed his Social Security application.
When he gets home, the man excitedly tells his wife about his experience at the social security office.
She says, "You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability too

Social anxiety question?
If one makes a choice so as to to feel happy regardless, and to accept them selves for who they are and unconditionally love themselves no matter what, would it cure/ ease their social anxiety? I mean, social anxiety roots from self doubts and what if we block this thinking pattern and starting feel good, though it takes effort and total reverse of thinking pattern in the beginning.?
Social anxiety question?
Hi Yarra
Social anxiety primarily results from looking for validations from sources outside yourself. It would therefore depend on HOW you achieve a state of unconditional self acceptance AND, as someone said already, how completely you believe in what you are doing.
If you are asking this question in relation to yourself I'd suggest that you might find it useful to read one or both of these books, both of which will provide a detailed explanation of what is involved, with lots of useful tips on how to improve your self confidence and self appreciation:
"The Myth of Self-esteem: How Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy Can Change Your Life Forever"
"Rational Emotive Behavior: It Works for Me, It Can Work for You"
Both books are by the inventor of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Albert Ellis.
Reply:All kinds of Phobias and Panic Disorders require professional help because one cannot cure himself/herself without hel. Also, such help has to accompanied by medication that would help the "Talking Cure".
Reply:Working out helps.. it gives you a sense of accomplishment when you see your body changing. Confidence will help you and others will notice and comment. It will definatley take help fade away social anxiety. I used to be the same way. Hope this helps:)
Reply:exactly! but you have to truly believe it otherwise you'd be kidding yourself...... and that doesnt work!

Americans should depend upon themselves to save their funds for the future. Do not rely upon government to secure your futures. It is the task of the individual to seek out and secure for his or her self the security of their own fortunes and lives.

at any rate sacrifice now and open a roth ira you can put up to $4500 per year in the fund and since it is after tax it grows tax free
Reply:Only the politicians who are inept that are very pessimistic about continued social security, on the other hand, if the government makes it mandatory for people to contribute money into an IRA and make an age of 67 before they can start withdrawing, sounds good. Warning: Some politicians will still insist in governing such law and to control the funds as they please, hence, back to square one, because it will be like social security going bankrupt again.
Reply:I think rather than pay blanket social security as we all currently do. I think something similiar to a roth IRA account, or a 401K that workers have a choice as to which one, and have several plan choices. The money put in would be mandatory (We pay SS anyway!) You couldn't draw till earliest 62, your interest would accumulate as ever investment does. And you'd have a choice to leave the entire ammount in case of death to a spouse or family member.
The problem currently with SS is that around 25 years fron now, more people will be retired than will be working. When you put money in SS, it doesnt just sit there and wait for you. Several administrations in the past have borroed against it to pay for things which means, theres only as much money as is being put in every year with not much as a safety. Remember your putting in, those retirirng now are taking out. Its a solvent money amount and not protected in any way.
I currently have 1 retirement from work, am working on 2nd retirement (New Job) have a Roth IRA Ive been saving into for 10 years. I completely retire in about 25 years and won't need ss and if projections are correct, I wouldn't get it anyway.
Reply:save as much as u can 4 ur retirement

Social security card?
I lost my daughter social security card but I know her social secuity number, can i still file my taxes without the card and just the number? thanks
Social security card?
yes
Reply:Yes, you can. However, you must report the lost SS card so that it can be cancelled and a new card issued for your daughter; the SSN will obviously remain the same, only it will be on a newer card.
It's important to report it, in case some unscrupulous person has found it, sold it to an illegal alien to obtain work with. Worse yet, someone could easily obtain credit card accounts etc using your daughter's SS card. Find it soon or report it soon to prevent problems for you and for your daughter.
Reply:Yes, you can still file your taxes, but you will need to get the card replaced as you may need it at some point. She will need it to get her drivers license or a job.
Reply:That depends on the preparer. Preparers are supposed to see something official with the number on it, like the card or a social security 1099. Most would probably take a copy of the previous year's return showing the number.
Reply:yes
Reply:Filing is normally done by mail or electronically, not in person. The SS numbers must be filled in at the appropriate spots on the forms, but no one is going to physically inspect a card.
Reply:Filing a tax does not require the physical card, only the number. Just to be sure, contact your local Social Security office, which you have to do anyway to apply for a new card.

Reply:All you need is the number, the IRS will not ask that you provide the Social Security Card.

Social Work?
Are social workers in demand? I hear some places are begging for them, other places you cant buy a job.
I have an interest in becoming a social worker? Is it worth pursuing?
Social Work?
Honestly, the world is always in need of good social workers. Just be prepared, to earn a REAL living in social work you will need a minimum education of a Masters degree. Good luck in your choices!
Reply:As a social worker, I can tell you that it is an extremely rewarding profession. If you wish to make a higher salary get into hospital social work, nursing home, home health, rehab, or child protective services. Good luck! Report It
Reply:Yes, do it. My mom did social work for 20 years in the Welfare Department, and she saved so many people's lives by giving them food, clothing and shelter when they were in utter poverty. Social work is tough, but it is very rewarding.
Reply:It is, especially if you'd enjoy it. Network with others.
It's who you know, not what you know.
Reply:Research job demand, pay, and if that is what will make you happy go for it.
Reply:I have a friend that is a social worker and she does not get paid very well, I think around 26,000 annually, and that is not so good for having a bachelor's degree.
I think that there is some demand, and I would look on the Department of Labor website to see what the acutal demand is right now. If you like helping people, you might enjoy the career.
Best of luck!

Social Conservatives are hypocrits, yes or no?
Why do social conservatives not support social programs that encourage women to have their babies instead of abortion?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
Social Conservatives are hypocrits, yes or no?
They think in terms of ideals, instead of realistic. I think we can all agree that it would be wonderful if we lived in a world where there was no unwanted pregnancy, where children were only conceived by well employed, happy, healthy couples. However, those of us who realize that life is not a fairy tale and that is never going to be the case realize that it's one or the other. You have to allow people to have abortions, or you're going to have to implement some social programs to help those who need it. It's all fine and good to say people should take responsibility for their actions, but the child is also going to end up paying the price when they're born to parents who resent their birth, and are unable to care for them properly and don't take them to the hospital when they're sick because they don't have insurance. And not all unwanted children in this world are adopted. There's not a whole lot of middle class families scrambling to adopt aids or crack babies. Many of them are shuffled around (often abusive) foster homes. And that's with abortion LEGAL. Can you imagine how many more there would be if it were illegal?
Reply:You make abortion illegal and I'll suffer your social program. There's a compromise for you.
No offense but, hypocrite is spelled with an e on th end if you care.
Reply:I wouldn't know. I'm a social liberal who despises abortion.
Reply:I think that the social conservatives you speak of want people to be responsible for their own actions, which means not having unprotected sex if you can not afford to have a baby. The answer should be that the baby should be out up for adoption if you are unable to care for it. I am mostly conservative, but I am pro choice. And I am against welfare programs that do nothing to motivate people to take care of themselves.
Reply:No. Social conservatives do not support GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS that encourage women to have their babies instead of abortion. They support programs made by private foundations. Thats is what conservatism is about : smaller government. Why would the government waste more money on government programs when tons of private foundations have programs for pregnant women.
Assuming your a liberal thats a nice try at conservatives :)
Reply:All of the Conservatives that I know including myself do not support abortion. That is one of the many liberal problems. Get it straight!
Reply:Sometimes I'm liberal; sometimes I'm conservative. I can't understand why we have to give each other these titles. Are some people actually always liberal and anything goes? Are some so conservative that they would have us all living in a Theocracy? You betcha! But they are so few that they are irrelevant. Why do we allow the media and politicians to use them to keep the rest of us divided? It's just disheartening to see this country suffering from such ideological paralysis to the extent that we are actually having our country stolen right out from under our feet. AND WE DO NOTHING.
Reply:Social conservatives are all scumbags. They are destroying our country.

Reply:Hello! This is the first time that I have spoken to someone with a similar illness to me - it feels a bit weird!! I have manic depression and social anxiety - although the social anxiety bit has been only for a couple of years - I'm on Incapacity Benefit and everything for it - which I really hate, as I used to be a violinist in a band and everything! Now, I can only tolerate children, animals, and family. It's really hard for me to get on the bus to town, hard to shop, because if someone starts me off, I'll put the basket down and walk out!! I've even been in fights, because if someone starts, I've learnt to fight, not flight. I suppose that it's because that I was always the smallest at school and got bullied - and then the worm turned!! The only problem is, that you're not suposed to act like that in public. I am on medication for this, but I have to tell you that Xmas and New Year was murder!! Have you done anything for your problem, and do react with anger or fright? Or do you just not go out? There are definately things that you can do to help, and you CAN get referred by your GP to see a specialist - anyway, enough of my gabbling - if you would like to chat, e-mail me on fluropink@yahoo.co.uk. It's a long-winded problem!! xxx

Social Disorders?
Hi all ,
I would like to get a clear perspective of whats going with me .
I have a bad social problem ... I find it difficult to look at people in their eyes and makes it hard for me to move about in social places . I tend to be extremely self conscious and morover I feel if ppl are watching me . I try to make sure I am not doing anything awkward etc..and event the slightest act in front of public makes me nervous . For eg. I just went to shop and I know the guy out there... I find it difficult to look at him and smile , my eyes just drop off and I feel weird... I wonder whats the reason ... Its difficult for me to look at people and give a gentle smile .
Can someone say whats the reason ? How do I go about improve ... Please give me some nice suggestion ..
Btw , any one who had such experiences ? How to cop up with
it ?
Thnx a lot ...
Social Disorders?
you seem to be suffering from Social Anxiety Disorder.I guess this because i experienced the same problem what u r suffering from.
The best way is to approach a good psychiatrist immediately and take medications if necessary.Medications for some months can prove to be fruitful .Also i suggest, avoid being alone as this might take your mind to dangerous thoughts.Do what interests you, such as watching tv,playing computer games, drawing, gardening etc.you will soon recoup from this problem.
Reply:It sounds like you do not like yourself very much.
You could start by focusing your eyes on someones chin when you say hello to them.
Gradually over time you can move your eyes ever so slowly up to their nose and then finally to their eyes. Take it slow. Rome was not built overnight.
Reply:It sounds like you have what I have but maybe my situation is a little worse. You said you went to a shop and you found it difficult to look at him and smile. In my case, I wouldn't even bother going to the shop in the first place because I get extremely nervous. You probably have a case of social phobia. Although I haven't been to therapy, I suggest you try it. I cope with my social phobia on a day to day basis. I still get extremely nervous in certain social situations but I know I have to do these things to get through life. Good luck!

How to fix my social ineptitude?
Ok, for as long as i can remember right back to the age of three I always had a problem with being sociable and making friends not from a lack of wanting to more the fact that i think that i dont posess the skills to be the "social butterfly" from this stemmed physical and mental bullying up to the age of 16 after that it levelled off since most people "grew up". to make up for the lack of social skills i've become mildy narcasistic not to the point of dellusion but to the point of it being the only way i can hold conversation by extrapolating about myself in an exaggerated way (this could be construded as lying i know) this results in myself being isolated because you dont want to admit to people that what your conversing about is not really the case therefore distancing them and not letting them completley in and not being able to befriend somebody because you dont know how to get to their level due to social inexperience cos of this social affliction, it's lonley here, any ideas?
How to fix my social ineptitude?
Change the perception of your self image. Identify in your head the ideal person you know with effective social skills. Become that person, be fake if you must. As Adolf Hitler once said and I paraphrase, 'If you tell peole a lie big enough, for a long time, they will start believing you.' And then you'll be the social person you've always wanted to...however this won't cure the source of your problems whatever they may be...such as depression.
Reply:Watch how others do it and copy them.
Reply:You know what, you sound like an intelligent person. You know what you want and are asking for ways to find it; therefore, I really do suggest that you seek some professional help. When you realize your inner worth, you will care less about making yourself "bigger" to the rest of the world.
Your own brand of "goodness" will show through, and your life will change. You NEVER have to be like someone else, but only the person you want to be, and enjoy the rewards of being that good person.
Reply:Don't worry about it! I was an inept loner also, but I matured as the years went by %26amp; now i insult %26amp; chastise with the best of them!
Reply:Learn cues. People with Asperger's do that. Also, subtle mimicry of body language can enhance communication.
I'm a loner too, and I'm happy that way. People just sh!t me off.
Reply:That is the longest sentence I have ever read. Holy crap man. But the answer to your question stems back to before you were 16. You are a loser. Sorry man, some of us are losers. I am too so I don't feel so bad calling you one. Good luck with that. Maybe you could join a chess club or a video game clan.
Reply:Just be yourself. Tell yourself over and over that other people's opinion of you does not matter. We've all been programmed to conform to Hollywood's image of "normal" and "acceptable", but let's face it, no two people are the same. Embrace your individuality and don't worry about what anyone else thinks of you. If you need to lie to someone to befriend them, they aren't worth the effort.

Social Skills help!!?
I'm not the kind of kid who is a nerd who is annoying, but a 13 year old kid who had some social problems. It's so much as a girlfriend or boyfriend kind of thing, but more with friends. I know a kid who used to go to my elementary school and we were great friends, then 7th grade we started off as friends, then later in the year, he went with some other people. I don't know why i didn't follow him, maybe because i have some shyness problem. I also am very aware that i am a loner who barely has any friends too. Can someone help me with social skills? there is nothing physically or mentally wrong with me either.
Social Skills help!!?
Making good friends is hard all by itself, but when you add being shy to the mix it becomes very difficult. We all have needs and desires to have friends, but the first rule to having a friend is being one. And just like anything else it takes work and study too. Spend some time watching other people say at the store, the pizza place, or where ever you may be. Watch them closely. Take note of what you like and dislike about what you see. Watch how they interact with others. Generally speaking I think you will find that people who are happy attract others. Feeling good is what everyone wants and so we tent to gravitate towards others who feel that way themselves. We like to be around people who make us feel good about ourselves. So be happy and step out of yourself and see the good in others. It will be hard at first to tell them the good you see in them, but do it anyway. It will get easier the more you do it.
Good luck to you. PS, I know how you feel.
Reply:Be yourself. People will like you for who you are. I know it's hard (being shy),I was very shy too. But I found out that people will either like me or not, without me saying a word. I now find that I can talk to just about anybody. If someone doesn't like me I just leave them alone. Their lost.
Social Skills help!!?

Social problems versus social responsibility?
Describe both themes. How might social policy decisions based on these themes vary?
Social problems versus social responsibility?
Social problems are the rather inconsistencies of human behaviors. I:E- They are things/actions/reactions/ that a persons own self is responsibl for-Their behavior and the way they react to someone dumping them or being shoved in an already tight elevator or going after the clerk at walmart because she woulnt give you a refund-Or even hitting a parked car and leaving without notifying the person whose car it was. You see what Imean? Now social responsibility is the actions that society feels we should take up, IE-like helping omeless people, protesting at a rally, running for president or gov office. We the people have a soial responsibility to uphold the law, help our neighbors, vote and so on...Hope this helps!
Reply:social problems occur because of lack of social responsibility
Reply:Basically it goes like this: "If you aren't part of the cure, then your part of the problem".
cheers

Social work?
how does one become a social worker and can someone with a criminal record become a social worker and what kind of education does a person need
Social work?
In general you will need a BSW or MSW to become a social worker (there are a few state agencies that use the title social worker and will give these jobs to those with a BA - but these are becoming less and less frequent). You can often go from a 2 year associates in Human services into a 4 year BSW program and then into a 1 year advanced standing MSW program thereby finishing your education in 5 years.
A criminal history can impact the types of jobs you can do post graduation. The nature of the offense will play a role in this. You may also have to go a background check to get into the program and/or a certain field placement. Your best bet is to discuss this early in your admission process to a school so that they can advise you. DA.

Social policy to a case study?
assignment --evaluate an area of current social policy that affects the family ,, any ideas what social policy i could use as a topic
Social policy to a case study?
The whole university fees debate. Maybe including sense of self worth (i couldn't afford it so I'm gonna sit and resent people that could, maybe taking that resentment out on family members), older generations resenting younger, or even class resentment. Financial implications for the generations above and below due to resultant job security. etc etc
Do families want to suffer tax rises to pay for egghead students when money is tight in most cases already. Leading to learning standards slipping, and then general society skills slipping. Possible reduction of imported business as a result, leading to job cuts, decreased family income in certain geographical areas, less tax money for education, other social projects, etc
Don't know if that's the sort of thing you're after? Sorry if it isn't.
There's a few more. I'll figure another couple out before tomorrow
To be honest I'm doing myself a favour. I've got a similar study coming up in the future. Now i can just look at what I wrote here lol

Social worker?
Would i have to go to University to be a social worker with an Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care.?
Social worker?
Social Workers help to provide care and support for the more vulnerable members of society. There are 26,000 Social workers employed throughout Britain and there are the chances for qualified social workers to move up the scale and gain promotion.
To become a social worker you have to have the Diploma in Social work (DipSW), which is the recognised qualification for this type of employment. This is often linked with a BA/MA or BSc/MSc degree. This would then be awarded by The Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work (CCETSW). (If you would like more information on this please visit GSCC or www.topss.org.uk)
To be able to do this degree, if you are under 21 you need to have 3 GCSE’s and 2 A-Level’s or equivalent. Colleges/University’s also look for work experience, either voluntary or paid. This is quite vital in most cases. If, however, you are over 21 you may be accepted without any formal qualifications, depending, of course, on your level of experience. If at this point you are wondering where can you get this experience here is one person’s account of how they went about it:
"I applied for jobs in care and at the point of graduating it was about the only thing I was confident in being qualified to do. After graduation I found work in a day centre for people with dementia. The DipSW involves a lot of written course work and two practice placements. It’s important to get a variety of experience with different client groups and in different settings; it helps you to get to know what you want from your career."
Otherwise to gain experience an idea might be to contact your local hospital, hospice, Samaritans, citizens advice bureau, local social services office and any voluntary organisations in your area.
The DipSW course lasts for two years, if you are attending full time. If you are already a graduate there are two year postgraduate programmes available. These combine a DipSW with a MA/MSc or a postgraduate diploma.
There are also NVQ’s which can be achieved. The level’s 2, 3 and 4 are available in care and childcare. Also at Level 3 Diagnostic and Therapeutic support, and Criminal Justice is also awarded at Level’s 3 and 4.
When you become qualified as a social worker you might have to have a driving licence, especially if you are interested in the field aspect.
The most important thing you should remember when thinking about becoming a social worker you must have the ability to communicate with and have an interest in, people from all walks of life!
Reply:I have no idea but I am sure your careers officer or someone similar would be able to help.
Reply:I'm not sure but have you considered what being a social worker really means ?
my daughter is a very caring person and was intending to become a social worker until i discussed it with her .
when social workers intervene it means there are problems ,
my daughter felt that she would be helping people but i asked her how she would feel when her job demanded that she take a desolate mothers child and put it into care against the wishes of both mother and child ?
such things happen for good reason but the misery and heartache caused cannot be denied .
a social worker deals constantly in the misery of others and even when they act in every bodies best interest they are often seen as the cause of problems .
it takes a hard strong willed even callous person to live such a life without taking some of the misery home .
i don't mean to dissuade you but i just hope you follow your chosen career with your eyes wide open .
good luck .
Reply:yes...you need at least 4-6 years university to be accepted as a social worker in health care...i am not sure for your part of the world...but i know in the USA you have to have it and i have applied to positions in london which require it as well...

Is it true that social workers are part of the STATE LAW?
After I turned 18 %26amp; got out of foster care, I was looking into filing a lawsuit for the social worker encouraging my foster mom to NOT give me my trust fund money from my biological dad. It was $5,500, %26amp; my former foster mom said, "You can't sue the socia worker! She IS the law! How are you gonna sue her?" I needed to sue the social worker %26amp; the foster mom. Also, I had about $4,000 in Social Security back pay, %26amp; she took that, too. I wasn't able to sue because I didn't have enough money, %26amp; I had no proof. How can someone prove theft? I showed them my award letters %26amp; they said that's not proof enough. Also, they were very forceful upon me %26amp; the social worker MANDATED that I let my foster mom put her name as the head of my bank account, %26amp; she said that if I didn't do it, then I wasn't gonna get my checks. Then, I found out all my money was GONE. Her name wasn't on either of my checks but they were on the bank account. I was 18 %26amp; old enough to have my OWN acct. I'm 24 now. I didn't know
Is it true that social workers are part of the STATE LAW?
THAT social worker did not care to understand her job description. I am a social worker and I help the kids on my caseload fill out applications for college, financial aid, apartments, Victim Witness Funds, Social Security and whatever else they need assistance with.
In California, the Social Worker spends the money on APPROVED items that YOU can take with you when you leave the foster home and believe me, those items have to be APPROVED and verified monthly that they are still in YOUR posession.
There is a checks and balance system with MANY signatures before ANY funds are approved and receipts have to be presented with a picture if the item....hopefully your foster home with YOU standing next to it.
File a complaint with your District Attorney. The statute if limitations may not have ended.
Reply:Im also in foster care and im 17 and i KNOW that they cant do that. the only way that would be possible was if the account was started when you wernt 18. and even after that you should be able to get your cash when you turned 18. but if was gone when you went to get it then you definitly got screwed
Reply:sounds like you've been ripped off by the very people and agencies who are supposed to be acting in your best interests. sadly, social services often contracts with foster parents who are less than caring and ethical.
How can you have no proof? there's always documentation of pay, social security payments, etc, even if you have to do a lot of legwork to get it together. this should teach you to keep good financial records in future and starting now.
meantime, the best you can do is find an attorney who's willing to take your case on a contingency basis -- meaning they don't get paid unless you win the case. unfortunately, they take a big chunk of the settlement and you're not talking about huge amounts (though it may seem like it now).
my best advice: forget about it and get on with learning to take care of yourself and being self-sufficient. good luck.
Reply:Yes and no. Yes they have the authority to act on the behalf (?) of a child or family, and yes they have the power to break up families and often do, however, your situation sounds not quite right to me. I would speak with an attorney if I were you.
Reply:You can absolutely sue them, you just need to decide if that's the best route to get your problem solved. An attorney could subpoena records related to your case to identify any instances or patterns of mishandling of your funds. Medicaid requires strict accountability for the handling of any money that you were to have received, so that information should be readily available to a lawyer acting on your behalf. Where do you find one? Look in the city government section of your local phone book and look for legal aid services. You should be able to find a low cost or free attorney to assess the strengths of your case. Social workers have limited power of attorney to act as "guardian" on your behalf in legal and financial matters until you're old enough to do so on your own. That's likely how your funds wound up missing. Now, they could be gone as part of costs of maintaining your upkeep while you were in the foster program, so be prepared for that possibility. But if that's the case, there should be a clear paper trail of documentation that supports the fact that this is what happened...and they must account for every single cent. (In the state I live in, I think trust fund money is exempt from being messed with by anyone.)
Good luck to you.
Reply:Sure you can sue them both. You've already uncovered the problem...paying for a lawyer will cost more than whatever you can recoup. If you somehow lose, it's even worse.
Reply:You should consult an attorney......
Reply:there not part of the law.
Go and see your LOCAL lawyer and ask for help.
If i were you get a restraining order against ur STEP MUM.

Social security?
How would a person know if they are denied for social security
disability or SSI does a denied person get a answer faster than a person who has a greater chance or is the wait the same and, does a denied person go throught the intire process such as the case having to be signed by a doctor before it goes back to the social security office?
Social security?
The easiest way to get any questions you might
have about Social Security is to go to their web
site: ssa.gov.
Or call their toll-free number: 1-800-772-1213
You can (if you're willing to wait anywhere from
10 - 20 minutes) talk to a representative. Their
hours are 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Reply:When a person files a disability claim in a Social Security office the file is sent (usually electronically) to a Disability Determination office for a decision. They will use the medical release form you signed to obtain medical records from the medical sources you listed when you filed your claim. They will use these records from your doctors to decide if they think your condition is severe enough to keep you out of work for a year or longer, which is Social Security's definition of disability. If you are denied you will receive a notice in the mail and you do have appeal rights. You do not have to have an attorney to file an appeal, so if you are denied visit your Social Security office and they will help you. You can always call your local SSA office or your Disability Examiner to see if a decision has been made on your case.

Social security eligibility?
During the years 1965 to 1968 i had a green card and have earned 16 credits towards social security. Currently I am not a citizen nor have a green card.
Question:
(1) Will i be eligible for social security benifits If i complete the remaining 24 credits during the course of next 6 years (four credits per year).
(2) What is the amount i would have to deposit to earn the remaining 24 credits
Social security eligibility?
get social security from the country where you ARE a citizen
Reply:What? Not a citizen? They are giving away US citizenship right now! It's bargain basement time in the US. Get your citizenship now, because there's a storm brewing.
Reply:Call the Social Security office. No one here knows, and it will depend on what country you are from, if you don't remain here.
Reply:If you have chosen to not become a citizen you have given up the right to collect retirement. Thank you for your contributions.
Reply:You really need to contact social security, but if you are out of status, you need to clear that up. The real question is, if you do find employment even if you are out of status, does that mean that the money you earned is added to your account, and when you are able to collect, will your status affect your ability to collect

Social anxiety??
Does anyone know anything about social anxiety disorder?? I have a horrible time trying to be in rooms full of people and sometimes it's hard for me to even carry a conversation with one person. It really affects my work life and social life at times because I work in retail and have to attend meetings several times a week. I've been to shrinks and tried the meds and all... to no avial. Any suggestions?? My life is good, I just feel like I could do much better if I learned some kind of coping skills, etc... The other night I tried to speak in front of a group of people and my friend said I looked like I was going to pass out!!
Social anxiety??
There are a couple of options for Social Anxiety Disorder/Social Phobia. The majority of health professionals would advocate a two step approach, first beginging psychological treatment with a counselor or therapist and second seeing a psychiatrist and being put on usually an SSRI anti-depressant. There are on some occasions when a psychiatrist will also use an anti-anxiety med such as Ativan to counteract any panic attacks that may come from the anxiety.
Any psychiatrist worth their M.D. will admit that psychiatry is not an absolute science. One medication may not work for you but it might someone else. You have to be honest with the psychiatrist about your feelings and trust them as much as they must be willing to change tactics if something is not woking.
If you do choose therapy there are a number of types to consider such as immersion therapy, rational-emotive therapy and many others. You should do a little research and find one that makes sense for you. If you want to sit on a couch there is a therapy for you and if you want to be thrown into the deep end and learn to swim that way there is a therapy for that too.
As far as quick fixes there are none. Not to be a jerk but the majority of people who have social phobia often have low self-esteem and need some assistance in improving their self image so they feel equal to others.
Also make sure you are completely honest in your initial session, social phobia is often comorbid with other disorders, meaning there are often other issues that are complicating treatment. Good Luck

Now, after 14 yrs of clowning around, If I feel uncomfortable, I just pretend I have makup on and I can act like everybody's my bestest friend!!! You can do this with anything...Dancing classes, acting class, even in church. Sometimes people in church are huggy touchy, feely people and that can make you relax. You have to find your own social activity that pleases you.

If others have to speak in front of the same group as you do too, they will be worried about their own performance and not noticing your anxiety. Everyone has a little of it, some just handle it better. If they have learned something from your speech or lesson, then you did allright.

Social Networking & Site Promotion?
Thinking that one or more of the social networking sites like MySpace or FaceBook might a viable means of promoting one of my websites.
I have no experience with any of them and don't know which might be most effective or if any would make sense.
The site I want to promote is http://www.CanadianDots.ca and is a forum for the discussion of the .ca Canadian domain name market.
Any suggestions for which social networking site would be best to use and/or guides as to how to go about it would be appreciated.
Social Networking %26amp; Site Promotion?
The best guide I have read for using Social Networks for promoting websites (without breaking the rules) is Spacebankers. The author is a college student who paid his way through college doing this. He makes more than many adults with full time jobs. Check out his story below:

This website is great for web advertising. It's a free targeted advertising (based on you selecting various categories you would like to be included in) and link exchange network. You put other websites text ads on your page and yours appears on others. And it really is 100% free, forever. While it's not something that guarantees traffic it also doesn't cost anything, so why not try it?
Good luck!
Reply:might wanna try http://adtactics.com/s.php?marcas it's free and you can reach thousands of people by using their easy mailing system, and also there's http://www.adlandpro.com

Social Security - Monthly Amounts?
Hi All!
I am looking for a website that tells me in every state and county how much someone can received for social security.
Anyone who can provide a website or phone number to call (other www.socialsecurity.gov and the Social Security Office) I would appreciate it.
Thank You In Advance.
Please do not responsd unles you can provide a web address or phone number or real good suggestion.
Social Security - Monthly Amounts?
Each year, everyone should receive from the Social Security Administration (SSA) a copy of "Your Social Security Statement" prior to your birthday. This individualized statement reports your Social Security earnings for every year that the SSA has a record. Your estimated benefits for retirement, disability, family, survivors, and Medicare are listed with the amounts for each area you have earned benefits. Your retirement benefit will be helpful to complete the ASEC "Ballpark Estimate" mentioned earlier.
If you have not received this statement, you can request a copy of the benefits and earnings statement by calling 1-800-772-1213. Beware of two provisions that may reduce your benefit. If you qualify for pensions from both a plan where Social Security taxes were not withheld (PERS and STRS) and a plan where Social Security taxes were withheld, there is a windfall provision because of the combination of two types of pension plans. If the person covered by PERS/STRS is entitled to a spouse or widow's benefit, there is an offset or reduction for the Social Security benefit.
here is the link i got that from http://ohioline.osu.edu/mm-fact/0004.htm...
Reply:It's not computed by state or county, but by how much money you've contributed over the years.
You can ask the SS office for a statement.
Reply:well i get ssi and im on ssi disability it would depend if a person is disabled or not. i get 600 some dollars every month and a medical card and my grandma is finally on ssi disability and she will start getting 1000 a month and a medical card.

How can we make social security safer?
How can we make social security safer? Seems like ANYONE, and i mean anyone, literally, can get a stolen social security number and use it to work in the United States. Can they not make something more reliable for us? like..example.
Have a special, card with PHOTO identity on it as your social security card. So therefore, if someone tries to get a job, they scan their card and makes sure its them. And have a special fabric inside the card that lets them knows its not a fraud. If they can tell if money is fake, surely they can do this with the social security.
Any suggestions?
How can we make social security safer?
Get rid of it. Plain and simple.
It was 'supposed' to be a temporary thing, but we all know how government programs are practically impossible to stop once started. It's also arguably unconstitutional.
"I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on the objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents." - James Madison
According to the SSA, "A person does not need a Social Security Number to live and work in the United States and does not need a number just for the sake of having one."
The only purpose is for the administration of the program, which is relatively useless.
"railroad benefits, like social security benefits, are not contractual, and may be altered or even eliminated at any time." Hisquierdo v. Hisquierdo, 439 U.S. 572, 575 (1979); Flemming v. Nestor, 363 U.S. 603, 608-611 (1960). United States. - Railroad Retirement Board v. Fritz 449 U.S. 166, 174, 101 S.Ct. 453, 459 (1980).
Just gives me such a warm feeling of security.
Any IRA will give a better ROI than SS does, although if one really looks at the condition of the SSA it really looks like stuffing cash under a mattress will give a better ROI.
Reply:I don't have a problem with fingerprinting everyone and it being on the card. That way in order to make sure it is the same person, they could just fingerprint and match.
People change on a yearly basis and a SS card with a picture ID may look like a total different person.
Reply:Add a fingerprint to the card. Verify it at time of employment or request for services,
Reply:Some great ideas. I have always wondered how it is possible to work for any length of time using a stolen or fake SS #.
Reply:Umm. Let's see. At birth everyone can have their SS# tattooed on their foot.
I'm just kidding.

Social sercuity dones't claim me as U.S. citizen?
Im a U.S. citizen for about 2 years. But when i deal with my college Finanical-aid, i filled out the application as a u.s. citizen, but school told me that my social sercuity doesn't claim me as an U.S. citizen. therefore i had to bring in my citizen paper every sesmaster to prove that im a citizen.
what do i need to do inorder for social sercuity to claim me as citizen.
Social sercuity dones't claim me as U.S. citizen?
If you have a social security card that says it is not valid for employment, you need to take your citizenship papers to the social security office and get a new social security card.
If you have no social security number, you need to take your citizenship papers to the social security office and get a social security number.
If you have a social security card that does not say that it is not valid for employment, you need to take your citizenship papers to the social security office and have them update their records.
Reply:You need to get the proper paper work together that shows you are an American Citizen as you claim and take it to the Social Security Office. There you can make your case and they will determine if you are a legitimate citizen or if you need to fill out more paper work or something else.
Good Luck!!
Reply:Sounds like a question for the social security office - something apparently didn't get updated in your records when you became a citizen.
Reply:Do you have a Social Security Card? Have you been employed and had money taken out of your paycheck for Social Security? If the answer to both questions is yes, then I would d suggest that you make an appointment at the Social Security office, let them know what has been happening, and they will be able to help you.

Social life for a handicap person?
My granddaughter had cancer of the brain @ 7 mo old.radiation and the operation left her handicaped. The main thing she needs is socialization with other people. She is now 20. She attended school and had an aide to assist her. She was popular and had friends but she had to move out of the area and live with me. She is 4'2'' and doesn't act her age . But she is also smart and people underestimate her. She is on the waiting list for a place called Carey services....which will provide her with socialization and also help her with a job. They will help her even tho her fine motor skills are not good but there is a waiting list. They also have social things for them. but in the meantime she is depressed and wishes her life would end. Does any one know of social events for her.

Social life for a handicap person?
One in five Americans is disabled. Your granddaughter is not alone. I don't know what all she is capable of, but you might call the county and see what programs they offer.
A lot of counties have social programs where the people go swimming, do arts and crafts, go out to lunch, etc. Just a place to do fun things and form friendships.
If you live closeby (or if other family is available) they may put together a schedule to hang out with her - so perhaps every Friday you take her out to a movie and every Saturday, someone else takes her out bowling or swimming or whatever.
If she's capable of taking classes, she might want to look into classes at a junior college or recreation center.
The county may also offer help in terms of a caretaker who can check in with her and help you out too. This caretaker may be able to get her to classes and such.
If all else fails, perhaps she could find a hobby that she can do with you - maybe she can garden with you or help a neighbor with their pets. Anything that will get her out of the house and have fun things to do.
God Bless!
Reply:One thing you could do is get her around people who see her as just one of the crowd. I know someone who has MD, she has a caretaker and they go shopping, to baseball games, plays video games, movies, swimming for exercises to keep as many muscles moving and what will be of her interest.
That is the important thing.
Each person is different and will have to choose what they like to do, make sure she has to think and keep her wanting to go to the next day.
Hope you are able to hold both your granddaughter and your self.
Reply:you granddaughter is a very special person, and I think you should definately let the world see it! while she is on the waiting list, what you can do is take her out, go for walks, go to the cinema, maybe join a group or a club that you could both enjoy. you didn't say what her interests are, so I am not sure what would make her happy, but I am sure you can find something, maybe she could take a course or join a workshop... there are many things you can do together, and that will cheer her up, while she waits. don't worry about other people, just go out and have fun and do something that makes her smile. she will relaise that the wold is not such a bad place to be:-))) my best to both of you and best of luck!

Medicare of social security?
I would like to know whether the person lives out of the US can resign from medicare of social security or not.
One of my friends is a Japanese, but she got married with an American man, so she has a social security #
and has received payments of it. She said that she has paid for medicare as a part of social security,
but because her spouse passed away a few years ago, so she came back to Japan.
She said she doesn't have a plan to go back in the US because she has no relatives there.
She also has a national insurance in Japan so she doesn't pay for medicare. Can she resign from the medicare system?
If she can, how she can do it.
Please advise.
Medicare of social security?
Most people do not pay a monthly Part A premium because they or a spouse has 40 or more quarters of Medicare-covered employment. Therefore there would be no reason to discontinue Part A.
However, the Medicare Part B monthly premium is $96.40 in 2008. Notify Social Security that you want to discontinue only Part B.
Reply:Yes, she can decline her current medicare A%26amp;B coverage. She should call 1800-Medicare %26amp; ask for assistance regarding canceling her benefits. (if she pays for part A %26amp; B, there may be a 2 step process to declining both parts.)
Her social security benefits seem to be based on the work history of her deceased spouse. If she is drawing his benefits, she will need to call the social security administration directly.
Reply:She can, but why would she want to?
She can by contacting the social security office.

Major in Social Work, Minor in Criminal Justice?
I know they recommend Sociology instead of Social Work for the compliment of a Sociology major, but I'm not sure what kind of jobs i can get with this combination. I was told to pick a minor because usually the amount of time MOST social work majors last is 10 years because of the depression factor.
Can anyone help me or give me hints as to what kind of jobs I can get with Criminal Justice minor and Social Work major?
Major in Social Work, Minor in Criminal Justice?
There is absolutely NO research to support that MOST social work majors last 10 years and have a higher incidence of depression. Do all social work majors stay in social work, N0 - but if you look at most undergrad majors - most are not working in the field they studied. Most social work majors who are serious about social work will go on and get their MSW.
Now as for a social work/criminal justice minor - the places you would end up working is probation or parole - in a detention facility (mostly juvenile - but some potential in adult). Victims assistance would be another area. Child protective would be another (people often forget that abuse and neglect are criminal activities.

Reply:You will most likely need a masters in social work if your goal is have a job as a social worker. Criminal Justice would complement social work nicely as you may be working with individuals who have been through the justice system. In terms of what kind of job can you get, most employers look at the degree major as opposed to the minor.
