I'm on Collegeboard and it's asking me how many years of Social Studies I've taken. I've always thought that social studies was the same as History, but it also asks me how many years of History I've taken. I plan on taking two years of History (I'm a Sophomore) and I don't know what they mean. The college I want to go to (North Carolina University) doesn't require history, but they require two years of social studies. Would my two years in History (World History and US History) count as social studies?
Are Social Studies and History both the same? If not how would I fufill their requirements?
-Thank You
Are History and Social Studies the same?
History is part of Social Studies, yes, but SS includes government, economics, all the social sciences that are called social studies in elementary and middle school.
Yes, I think your world history and US history would in their lingo be social studies.
Reply:when i was in high school they were part of the same class.
today i think history deals w/ the past and social studies deals w/ social issues
Reply:world history and American history is the same, so yes
Reply:no history is a story 10yrs 25yrs 50yrs of 100yrs.5ooyrs or more of a city county or country pertaing to rulings, cour decisions ,war etc..where as social studies ts the study of a socity place socoal position of the people
Reply:Yes...
Social Studies includes History, Geography, Economics, Political Science, Civics, and so on.
Science includes Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and so on.
Math includes Algebra, Geometry, Calculus and so on.
You get my point....they're asking for "broad" categories, not specific course names.
