Social security card?

well my i lost my social security and well tomorrow i'm going to the social security office i know it takes 2 - 3 weeks to get it but the problem i need it for a job application because they need a copy so i need that social security card as soon as possible becuase someone else might get my job

I had the exact same problem! They gave me an "official" receipt at the SS office to use in place of the card. Hopefully that and your number( you do know it don't you?) will be enough. Good luck!

Reply:When I lost mine I got a note from the SS office stating that the card was being issued.


Your prespective employer will most likely accept it especially if you have other ID to back it up. If you're hired, you can give them a copy of the actual card when you get it.


Also I doubt that it will take that long. Mine came in a week.
Reply:have them give you a statement that the card is being processed.
Reply:If you can't remember your SS#-look through other files you may have printed your # there, my point--If you at least have your SS# it will speed up the process to obtain a new one.
Reply:The SS office gives you a receipt and it doesn't usually take the full 3 weeks. I had the same problem and it all worked out for me.
