Does school have social workers?

I want my major to be a social worker and i heard my friend said be a school social worker is good. But i never heard of school have social worker. I think if school have social worker, that will be great cause i love to work with the kids. The question is do they really have social worker at school?

Reply:Some schools do have social workers and some schools have counselors, In NYC there are both social workers who deal with problems like academics and some family issues and counselors who deal with the more serious issues of like child abuse, drugs, alcohol and other similar issues. So I would think it would depend on the school system. You should check with the school department in your area.
