Social workers?
Social Work is a major unto itself. The BSW degree is entry level and general. At one time, other majors could easily get entry level social work jobs, but this is getting more and more uncommon as demand for the actual BSW is increasing.

The curriculum for BSW consists of topics such as development across the lifespan, how to work with systems of all sizes (individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities), values and ethics, cultural competence, social policy, communication skills and research methods.

The standard degree to practice most social work is the graduate MSW, or sometimes MSSW. An MSW tract can be focused on either working directly with people (clinical) or more administrative in nature. The clinical tract has some similarities to psychology and counseling, but there are differences. Even within the clinical tract, there are additional specialties, such as gerontology, or substance abuse which require some additional credit hours. Some people choose a specialty, others do not. Clinical Social Work requires a license to practice in addition to the degree in most places. The administrative tracts have some similarities to Public Administration and Health Administration, but again, there are differences.

PhDs and DSW degrees are also obtainable.

I hope this is helpful.
