Where does social anxiety and panic attacks come from?

Where does social anxiety and panic attacks come from?

Why did I started having them about 3 years ago? What are some

things that can cause them? I think first I had social anxiety, than after a while I started having panic attacks. And after unable to socialize with people normally and started having agorophobia which lead to depression. But where did social anxiety came from what caused it? What could be the factors?

Where does social anxiety and panic attacks come from?
Fear.

Real and unreal. Rational and unrational. See you doctor...he can prescribe something for that. There is no need to feel that way anymore so go and see him. Your life will change dramatically. It is a very common thing you have.
Reply:The main thing is to learn to relax in my opinion. The coping techniques can help, but it is even more important to learn to accept that these attacks are NOT going to harm you! Nobody dies of panic attacks, so relax, this is the key thing.

Reply:i believe that they come from insecurities
Reply:Did something traumatic happen back then? Or did something major change in your life? A job, finishing school, losing a friend, something that scared you....hard to say but I remember a time I felt like that too and it was after realizing that a lot of my friends weren't really my friends and I kind of withdrew and didn't really know what to do next....I remember just wanting to stay home (asides from working that is) and became kind of reclusive and afraid to go out...then I met a great friend who was really kind to me and just like a brother and he made me feel strong and secure again and I grew to meet a lot of great people through him. Unfortunately I couldn't help him as he was a pretty serious alcoholic...I never realized how much at first and how bad it got in the end...pills and booze enlarged his heart and poof he was gone just like that at 33. Funny how some people can be angels in your life and yet they can't do a thing for themselves...and I couldn't get him to change either...too set in his ways...his dad died the same way too.

But anyhow, I think you just have to give yourself strength and fight those fears. They really are just a perception of reality. Rent or buy a movie called "What the Bleep do We Know?" It might help you out some...talk to someone professional too...you just need to take a step back into something positive and I think you will be able to figure out why you feel the way you do and everything will start to change at that point.

Good luck!
Reply:I get them too going to try Paxil its an antidepressant that helps social anxiety, going to start it tomorrow!
Reply:It comes from inner fears. This book will not only explain where it comes from, but how to get rid of it and depression too: "The Feeling Good Handbook" by David Burns MD.

It cured my suicidal depression so anxiety and panic attacks should be a piece of cake.
Reply:Mostly from overly liberal therapists. Everyone gets anxious, panics or just palin feels like crap from time to time. The only people benefitting from all these new diagnoses are the drug companies. They are making hundreds of millions of dollars off of people just trying to get some help. People have too much time on their hands nowadays.....pull yourself up by the bootstraps and stop letting someone else tell you how you feel.
Reply:Our brains make chemicals. When the chemicals levels drop, we get these anxiety and panic attacks. Do daily aerobics and your chemical levels will go back up, so your attacks will be considerably less. Mine is depression. When I sleep, the levels drop, so waking up is really difficult!!
Reply:in your head
