Heres the thing. Some girl has my same name, same birthday (just two years older) same social. I am nt sure if she is doing it purposly or she really think its her social security number. I keep finding things on my credit report that arent mine. I have to keep filing fraud with companies. Is it possible to have my social changed???? this has been going on for 5-6 years and i have found almost 10 accounts not opened by me.
Changing a social security number?
I'm sorry for what you're going through ~ that is very strange ~ social security admin don't usually make mistakes that huge however no one is perfect ~ I would go to the social security admin and ask them to do some research to determine if it's to see if a duplicate social was issued in error ~ if not consider it fraud!!!
Sorry to tell you I don't know how to go about getting a new social but I know it is possible for extreme circumstances (I personally believe this is extreme, but you have to take that up with them)
Applying for a new number is a big decision because as you know essentially your social is you life in a little number ~ everything old will be under your former number~ it can possilby cause more harm than good and you may have to prove twice as hard that you are say you are, but sounds like you're already felt harm
Good Luck and check out www.socialsecurity.gov for more info
Good Luck
Reply:Sounds like ID theft to me. The chances of someone having the same name and same birthday, just happening to use your SS# are slim and none.
You should put a freeze on your credit file. Then when she attempts to open new accounts, she won't be able to.
Reply:You should visit your local Social Security office and take all your paperwork with you. Will get to the bottom of it. You may ask them to contact that person to alert her of what is going on. Could be that she is not aware.
Reply:Just remember if you put a freeze on credit , you will not be able to get any credit .........
Reply:Are you sure it's just not old fashioned Identity theft? Sounds like all she did on the apps was change your birthdate slightly.
